Henry Green Boyle diaries, ca. 1844-1889.

Handwritten diaries. Boyle writes about his experiences primarily as a missionary for the Mormon Church. He served on roughly fourteen missions in various places in the United States. Most of these missions were to the Southern States where he was mission president from 1875 to 1878. He tells about the letters he wrote to his four wives, problems with Mormons emigrating to Utah, and preaching the Mormon faith. Handwritten autobiography and diary. The diary starts in 1847. Boyle grew up in Virginia and joined the Mormon Church. He lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, joined the "Mormon Battalion" to serve in the war with Mexico (1846-1848), settled in Ogden, Utah, and went on missions for the Mormon Church in Virginia and California.
